ROSALYN REED,ACSW, MSW
As an African American woman, scholar, and changemaker, Rosalyn Reed’s work is deeply rooted in her experiences growing up under the guidance of caring mentors from her community. A fourth-generation native daughter of the city of Oakland, she has been fortunate to learn so much through the city’s positive aspects. These experiences, their long-term impact, and her desire to create a better world for future generations, have been linchpins for her career path.
Reed has worked in the non-profit community in the Oakland and San Francisco Bay Area since 2002. With well over 20 years of experience, she has also worked in non-profits across the country, promoting social justice and providing her expertise as a program developer, youth enrichment specialist, community organizer, mentoring coach, and leadership trainer. She also spent a year inside San Francisco's City Hall addressing city challenges through public service as City Hall Fellow.
Reed, who was named “One of the 10 Most Influential African Americans in the Bay Area,” for City Fight in 2003, completed her undergraduate studies in history and political science at Spelman College with a concentration in African and African American History. She also completed studies abroad with the School for International Training (SIT) in West Africa and a domestic exchange program at Stanford University during her undergraduate studies. Reed earned a Master of Social Work at California State University, East Bay. In 2018 Reed was named “one of Cal State East Bay Top 40 under 40,” which is awarded to young alumni who have made significant contributions toward improving and uplifting their communities and beyond. This and all of Reed’s accomplishments demonstrate her dedication, excellence, and development in her professional, philanthropic, and communal endeavors.
Reed’s current role as the Executive Director of United Roots (UR) is a testament to her commitment to activism as a lifestyle. In addition to this role, she is also the founder of Uniting Youth Leaders, a non-profit consulting organization dedicated to the healing and revolutionary transformation of disenfranchised communities. Previously, Rosalyn worked as the Community Support Services Director at Richmond District Neighborhood Center (RDNC) in San Francisco. There, she oversaw the Neighborhood Family Services, Case Management, and Youth Employment and Leadership programs and directed several community food programs, which helped minimize food insecurity in the areas served. During her tenure, Rosalyn also oversaw a home-delivered groceries program that matched volunteers with home-bound seniors or adults with disabilities; and provided over 700 households with free groceries weekly.
Rosalyn is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, New Leaders Council, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and President Emeritus of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College, San Francisco Bay Area chapter.
Letty Elenes, BS, ALWF
Letty Elenes is a National Award-winning strategist with a record of developing, and executing successful programs to address youth and adult mental health needs with measurable results; “participants” include people from the criminal justice, foster care, and mental health systems and those in addiction recovery. Ms. Elenes has provided training and technical assistance to programs, agencies, and government organizations at an international level. Including program evaluation and effectiveness. She is the former National Technical Assistance Center Director for the Copeland Center for Wellness and Recovery. Ms. Elenes is a Co-author of WRAP® for Youth (Wellness Recovery Action Plan), Advance Level facilitator, and a Renown Public Speaker within Mental Health.
Desmond Holt (DesignerDesmond formally DB1) is an Autodidact Visual Design and Media expert. He utilizes multiple disciplines from photo retouching to 3d motion graphics to build brands for local bay area musicians to engage their fans and supporters. At the age of 29, he has 10+ yrs of experience working with musicians who present meaningful and impactful music . For the past 5 years, Desmond has been working with small business owners to build online presences for their respective businesses. Using several content management systems, Desmond is able to use his extensive design knowledge with HTML & CSS to create custom websites outfitted with custom product photography.
Jasmine (aka) Honey Gold Jasmine is a performing artist, entrepreneur consultant, and event coordinator. Her life’s mission is to create “music FROM the soul FOR the soul” and raise her daughter to embody her power & peace. She earned her double major in Music and Psychology from Mills College in 2017. Since 2016, Jasmine has mentored numerous youth entrepreneurs as a facilitator & alumni of Youth Impact Hub Oakland. She is a hip hop therapist + Communications Coordinator with Beats, Rhymes & Life. In addition, she is a member of SELC’s Repaired Nations project first pilot cooperative economics group that focuses on promoting co-op businesses in Black communities. She is humbled and proud to be a part of a group of artist entrepreneurs that are ready to change the world for the better by coming together unified.

Raymundo Peralta is an aspiring filmmaker from Oakland, California. He attended San Francisco State University and earned his Bachelor’s in Cinema. He has worked in multiple productions through a small media company in Oakland, California and recently completed his first feature film credit as a 2nd assistant director. Raymundo believes in creating media that deals with social justice amongst minorities and people of color and his love for horror cinema continues to push him to break the boundaries of filmmaking.

Tenika Blue 3 generation Afro- Indigenous San Francisco, Bay Area Native. With her rich roots she's worked with a wide variety of organizations to advocate and support anti-violence initiatives, Social Justice Reform, women's initiatives and youth empowerment. 2018 she was Nominated "Mother of The Year" by the Love Life Foundation in Oakland Ca. Founded By Donald Lacy.
Blue's heart work has led her to cultural community healing an over the last 10 years she has dedicated much of her time to building a sisterhood network know as New Beginning Sister Circle which was piloted out United Roots Oakland Youth Media Arts Hub. Tenika Blue, Ladasha Diamond, Queen Deelah and Katrina Harris are the Founding Sisters of the New Beginnings Sister Circle born out of the need to hold sanctuary space for young and women of color living in Oakland's inner city.
With knowledge of how powerful circling up is, Blue joined Sisters Unitel a few other women took the Circle into the San Francisco juvenile hall alongside a collective of women such as Shervon Hunter CEO of (Stand In Peace International), Katrina Harris, Toni R. Battle CamishaFatimah Gentry-Ford and Ashley M.Blanco. Tenika Blue as she quotes " In breathing life into our young people it shifts what our future looks like. To have knowledge of self an to learn your worth has a profound impact on one's esteem. Because when you know that people care it goes along way, in one's mental self security. The elders in my life made it very clear that I had purpose, an that one day I would become an adult an pay it forward."
Currently, you can find Tenika Blue holding Intergenerational Circles with United Roots Oakland, Urban Peace Movement, DPV, and HHREC. Her work also includes being an Event Commentator, where she navigate positive lively interactions amongst communities and special events. You'll also find her using different forms of art to liberate the importance of Ancestral Inclusion through her ceremonial homage an offerings. In light of all that she was lead to POORMagazine /DeeColonize academy where she is co-teacher, co-madre and elephant council member collectively working to educate, empower and liberate for a sustainable futures.
Adimu Madyun is an educator, filmmaker and musician. Adimu has produced films and music in both the United States and various countries in Africa. Adimu has worked with the Oakland Unified School District for over 5 years as an educator and youth counselor. Adimu also facilitates a men of color achievement circle at United Roots, DetermiNation, and directly trains youth in media and music production.
