Photo Editing 1 In photo editing 1 workshop , we will go over the basics in photoshop to get you comfortable using the software. Layer stacking order, type tool, masks and how to use them, basic color adjustments and the the concept of editing non destructively. At the end of this workshop , you will be able to resize or crop images, make targeted color adjustments to photography, remove blemishes and red eye from people, create memes and basic flyers, understand the basics of font types and how to use a font family.

3D Modeling 1 (CAD 1) In the 3D modeling 1 workshop we will start by going over the user interface, cover the basics of 3D modeling techniques that will allow participants to produce prototypes or assets for video, animation, still, web applications. Projects include creating three dimensional versions of logos that can be 3D printed or animated. Participants will gain an overall understanding of 3D technology. In this workshop, you will have access to a Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) printer that you will use to take your 3D designs from digital models to physical objects.
After taking this workshop participants will understand the FDM printing process from start to finish. Have the ability to model basic and simi complex objects. Know how to create an "Air tight mesh." Know how to merge objects without intersecting or manifold geometry for 3D printing. All participants will successfully design a custom alphabetical letter or logo with chain loop. Participants get to keep their 3D print designs.
The software used in this workshop is Maxon's Cinema 4D for modeling and model preparation. TierTime Up Studio for 3D print Slicing. A TierTime 3D printer will be used for FDM printing.

Weekly Sessions Cohort These sessions are a safe space for our young Black men to connect with their peers from the Oakland area while receiving cultural education and training. Youth members will learn about Black history and culture, as well as the legacy of the Black community in Oakland. Ultimately, leadership development skills provided to young men in the DetermiNation program uplift and engage other community members as well.
