about lanese
Lanese is a creative and all around social-entrepreneur enthusiast. She is the Operations Manager at Oakland Rising. Prior to Oakland Rising she worked for the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights as their Operations and Administrative intern while pursuing a M.B.A. in Sustainable Enterprise at Dominican University of California. Lanese’s passion for systems and processes led to her decision that her role in the “movement” was capacity building for organizations doing innovative work in the social justice field. Currently, she is in the process of developing a consulting firm that will provide strategic business planning for non-profits that seek to find sustainable revenue generating streams to support their work. |

About Calvin
Calvin is the current Health Equity Fellowship Director – a new partnership program between The California Endowment and Greenlining Institute. As Health Equity Fellowship Director, he coordinates special projects at The California Endowment designed for emerging public health leaders committed to creating equitable health outcomes for all Californians through research, policy, advocacy and philanthropy. His commitment for social justice has led him to field of organizing, education, and youth leadership development. After he received his BA in Political Science at LaGrange College, Georgia – where he also engaged in cultural and campus based organizing on issues of racial justice, peace promotion and civic engagement. After graduating in 2004, Calvin taught in Mississippi and Alabama in communities he called home during his high school years. He received his MPA at City University of New York, Baruch College School of Public Affairs. Calvin currently resides Oakland – he engages in cultural and social media, and building new roots in the town he now calls home. |

He has an exceptional ability to develop and implement policies to improve individual success in professional development. He is a musician, DJ, producer, Band manager - produced television shows and scored feature films. He also volunteered in a youth music program in Alaska where he taught at-risk young men to use writing lyrics to better process their thoughts and emotions. |
