Youth Media Programs
United Roots offers two Media Cohort Programs: the 3D Printing Cohort Program and Business Branding Cohort Program. The Media Programs provide services to young people (ages 16-25), fostering confidence in creative developments. The Media Program teaches industry-standard software, using industry-standard vocabulary and techniques to tackle projects to complete start to finish “client” work requests. Empowering youth participants to kickstart portfolios with meaningful and impactful designs and projects that prospective clients are seeking. United Roots youth members can apply for the program cohort of their interest and can get matched up with a mentor with experience in the field as part of the program. After completing the program cohort of their choice, participants can leverage their skills to start creative businesses, continue to expand their learning by attending our Youth Hub program, or even gain the confidence to pursue formal degrees.
Media programs
3D Printing Cohort ProgramThe 3D Printing Cohort Program is a two-hour, eight-course learning, and production program. We offer youth the opportunity to understand the technical principles and workflows of 3D printing. The 3D printing industry is transforming how products are designed, produced, and utilized across business manufacturing. 3D enables on-demand production and youth to expand their thinking by taking their inventions from an idea to a physical prototype. We will provide our youth participants with the design tools, 3D printing equipment access, and materials to design and print a prototype invention. The goal of the program is for every youth participant to gain the confidence to leverage their education. Youth have the option to continue to expand their learning by attending our Youth Hub Social Entrepreneurship Cohort program or gaining the confidence to pursue formal degrees.

Business Branding cohort programThe Business Branding Cohort is a two-hour, eight-course hands-on education and training program. The business economy is changing dramatically with more and more small businesses popping up every day, creating new designers opportunities. Our program enables youth to learn about key aspects of branding such as Color Theory, Composition, Target Demographics, and Graphic Design to create brands for businesses. We combine Design Theory with practical hands-on training using industry-standard tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, and After Effects. Our program will take creative thinkers and teach them how to be designers. Youth participants will make logos, business cards, flyers, icons, motion graphics, and other brand assets. We will provide our youth participants with the design software, computer equipment access. The goal of the program is for every youth participant to gain the confidence to leverage their education. Youth have the option to continue to expand their learning by attending our Youth Hub Social Entrepreneurship Cohort program or gaining the confidence to pursue formal degrees.
